Earth Defense Force 2017; e1

K09.110 SAN2
  • Conflict - guns, insects, robots, shooting, aliens, HP
  • Culture - soldiers, civilians
  • Economics - pickups, unlockable weapons
  • Environment - urban, rural, modern
  • Technology - radar, guns

This game is addicting as hell. It's a third person sci-fi shooter comprised of 52 stages and 5 difficulty levels. There's vehicles to ride (tanks, helicopters, airbikes, mech suits), tons of weapons to unlock, and a ton of strategies/weapon combinations to try out for each level.

I just beat the Normal campaign and will be doing a Hard run to unlock more weapons hopefully. Then I'll be doing an Easy run to beef up my health via the Armor drops before attempting a Hardest. Not sure about Inferno yet. Might just switch over to Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon at that time.

Hexyz Force; e1

J16.081 STI
  • Conflict - turn based battles
  • Culture - elves, humans, beastmen, kingdom
  • Economics - fusion points
  • Environment - fantasy
  • Technology - fusion, spirifacts, ragnafacts

Seems like a good game so far. It has your usual paper-rock-scissors JRPG elements. When I first saw durability on ANYthing in this game and crafting, I almost stopped. But the main weapons aren't breakable so I kept on.

There seems to be a field skill of sorts where you can use Force to uncover secret item caches and God knows I love me some exploration. Still trying to figure out the element circle. Good story so far, too. Has a Wild Arms feel about it. We'll see.

Google MINUS, General Update

So I tried Google+ recently, and it's just as cluttered as Facebook. Think I'll stick with a simple web log. Like this. I know, I know - "What about keeping in touch with people blah blah blah?" WELL. The only type of contact you get on FaceNutz is usually VilleVilleTown requests. EVEN WHEN you sent a message. The problem is the layout I think, since FaceNutz is an ADHD's dream and has 45 ways to communicate - wall, status update, like, comment, etc... The "message" feature (which is never used) is almost fucking hidden behind all the panels. I honestly need a sherpa to navigate that shithole.

Still working at Global Foundries, getting used to the office politics and just the overall environment. I still have anxiety attacks about job security stemming from my horrible stint with IT/my entire life; but I'm gradually adjusting.

Almost done with my student loan settlement payoff - I did $600 a month for a year, the last payment will be February. Then I'll be getting a 2010 Buick Lucerne! Cannot f@#$ing wait. In addition, I'll be selling Steve my car so it's helping both of us. Also, Naomi and I have been losing weight, I'm down to 211 right now from 250 which was my heaviest.

I'll try to get back into the swing of posting here more often, but I honestly don't feel the need to post/tweet every little detail of my life. That, and I'd rather post, you know, INTERESTING things. Unfortunately, I'm not an international man of mystery and don't have extraordinary adventures to write about like all those trust-fund kiddies. Stay tuned, though.

Projects, Projects, Projects!

I have a backlog of 10 projects I've come up with the past few years, and I need to get started on them. I've decided (with the help of the "Slow Movement" and some Zen teachings) to single-task, take them on one at a time.

Parallel to the project schedule, I've decided to play all the friggin games in my collection, since there's way too many that I haven't even fired up yet in my 10 year collecting craze. I'll be posting stuff about it under the tag "game journal", which will also help me generate some material for ANOTHER future project I got lined up.

Spam-A-Lot

It's sad that we just got used to it, but yet still hilarious. These comments were taken from this article:

@DreyerSmit No, actually, it's expected. If you think something as large as Google won't get stats like these, then you're delusional.

@DreyerSmit
Get six pack Abs
Im busy and cant spend 60 minutes a day with exercises. Truth About Six Pack Abs does not require this. 30-45 minutes workouts 2-3 times a week should do the trick go here : goo.gl/YR85Z

@DreyerSmit I agree with Alexdan2, I think you need to get six pack abs ASAP.

Blog Cleanup & Personal Update

What with posting the link to this blog on google+, I had to go through and edit/remove a bunch of articles that may have been considered "offensive". Not because I've softened up, but I know that even with the NLRB's efforts, employees can still get canned at-will for anything they post online. That, and I'm not sure how many people I know are misinformed and would get their panties in a bind from my opinions. Just avoiding the inevitable. If you'd like to read some "inappropriate" opinions, let me know and I might send you a link to the files. They do exist.

I've also removed the 800+ articles I published from RSS feeds with the exception of those I commented on.

Anyways, I've been at Global Foundries since April 2011 and it's working out good. I'll be registering for classes at Exclesior (non-profit & local, but online) to get my B.S. in Business with a concentration in Management Information Systems.

Adios, Red Faction [Thq]

Adios, Red Faction [Thq]: "
Poor sales of Red Faction: Armageddon this year means the end of the franchise, publisher THQ said in a conference call today. More »

Dave's Take: I know it's been a while since an entry, but this was too good to pass up. A great example of how catering to kiddy-jizz call of duty halo 9 year old gamers is ruining video games' integrity and quality. Hopefully it gets revived by another company soon...

Neglected blog? Possibly. Abandoned? No.

With school and work(!!!) I've got minimal time now, but I haven't given up on the blog. As aforementioned, I landed a job at Electrovaya in Malta, where our team is responsible for a good deal of decisions concerning the product. I'm pulling all A's in class, too, so I'll hopefully have my Associate's by January.

As usual, my pile of personal projects is piling up - I've got 3 books, 3 board games, 1 database, 1 videogame text dump and probably a few others floating around. Anyone interested in a non-paid assistant position, let me know!
